Anyone know what the best practice would be for multiple languages on a site? We have a site for the english and spanish market, and want to capture SERP in both languages. Site is wordpress.

Implement hreflang tags, use SEO-friendly URLs with language codes, and provide high-quality localized content. Create separate sitemaps for each language and include an easy-to-use language switcher.

Next to above suggestion - Start building backlinks for both versions separately -> English Content = Backlinks from English Websites, Spanish Content = Backlinks from Spanish Websites.

I suggest the Bogo plugin. It is from the creator of Contact Form 7

It lets you create very fine grained translations, including custom URL slugs for the posts etc...

Free, robust, minimal, from a trusted author

make sure to create sitemaps for each language and build backlinks for the both the languages.

If your site needs to support regional language variants ,configure multilingual plugin to handle these variations .

For your multilingual site you should use Multilingual plugins like WPML or Polylang to create separate pages for your English and Spanish site. Optimize both sites with relevant keywords for each markets and lastly use Hreflang to signal the search engines the language version of your websites.
