What I'm trying to do..

  • Wordpress MU
  • Multiple sites
  • Multiple IP's
  • Multiple domains

All hooked up on a single server. My goal is to create an easy way to manage about 200 money sites. They will be very simple 1-5 page affairs, similar templates and same plugins etc - so managing them from the one location would be advantageous.

The important thing is that the sites absolutely can not be determined to be belonging to the same owner.

The sites won't be linked to each other in any way.

Is there a way I can achieve this kind of setup (reseller hosting? vps?) without leaving any footprints for someone who goes looking for clues on my operation?

Yes of course you can, what your going to need to do, is to buy a VPS or a dedicated server, for this project, definitly a dedicated server, then your going to need to add on some more IP addresses, not too sure on what the ip:site ratio should be, but the lower, the more secure, 1:1 would work very nicely to be honest.

The only issue is all of these IP's would come from the same location, which isn't unusual, companies like hostgator have thousands of websites on the same IP addresses.

To my knowledge, you can't use multiple IP's with WPMU and multi-sites. Every multi-site domain that you add with WPMU has to be pointed to the same IP that WPMU is installed on. I could be wrong, but I would definitely look into this before you purchase a server.

I heard the same as StutlerEx, anyone who can shed some light on this?
