I would like to know what you guys preferable way for storing and serving vods if given multiple storage servers?
  • By resolution: 480p/720p > HDD server; 1080p/4K > SSD server
  • By popularity: Old content > HDD server; hot content > SSD server
  • By region: Tier 3 > HDD server; Tier 1 > SSD server
Do you have other methods? Whether it's easier to manage, better for scaling or even some advanced caching solutions that can help save some bandwidths, please share with me :D

Okay so that's a cool breakdown you've got there splitting vods across HDD and SSD servers. Smart move! Another thought maybe you could use object storage like AWS S3 or something similar. It's super scalable and you only pay for what you use which is sweet. Plus CDNs like Cloudflare or Akamai are lifesavers for caching. They distribute your content closer to users reducing latency and saving on bandwidth. You could even get fancy with a hybrid approach some on-prem some cloud depends on your budget and how much control you want over everything. Just spitballing here!
