Multi-niche backlinks

Only hompage links wont be enough to build good positions on even slightly competitive niches. You have to maintain a mix. I would say 40/60 is a good starting approach. You put 40% of your linking efforts to homepage. The remaining 60% you target low competition keywords. Low hanging fruits first.
