Multi-level marketing & Make money websites, how do they work?

I have been contacted by email by one of those multi level marketing companies, the website showed the usual persuasive videos on how great of a life I can have if I join etc but it never really showed any information about what work is to be done or how things work, it only asks me for my information just like any other landing page.

I later have researched more into the company and found some other videos that state an even bigger company that they partner with and found out that they are a multi-level marketing company.

Now here are my questions for all of you who has been there:

-Has any of you made any income with mlm?
-Is it hard to get into/how much work does it require?
-Do you make any upfront payments?
-Is it worth investing your time in or should you try something else?
-How do I know that they're not going to use the info on my landing page to set me on a spam mailing list?

MLM is a pyramid scheme with a product. Simple as that. Same business model.

Isn't it sort of similar to affiliate marketing but just that you have to invite people to join the network?

Sounds simple but impossible to sustain this type of business no matter what they tell you.

Nope, totally different. In affiliate marketing you get a commission for selling products, in a pyramid scheme you get people to join as commissions are crap lol.

pyramid scam very old news.

I like the one everybody put a pound in and when the period get full you get the next present lol

I think I got a better idea now after reading some more about it:
You never earn any money because you have to invite people to join, but they have to invite people too in order for you to get paid and it goes on over and over (ex: "receive your money after you have five referrals! but those five referrals must have five referrals each, and so on").
