Multi Language website or Country specific domain website?? What works best for SEO?

Country specific domain website (get domains extensions for each website .ru, .en, .cn etc)

or

Multi Language website ( Add language versions of pages to single website)

You can run WordPress with WPML and have different domains for every language.

You can run WordPress with WPML and have different domains for every language.

Third option:

Making different sites for different countries in subfolders or subdomains like
domain.com/us/
domain.com/ca/
domain.com/uk/

or

us.domain.com
ca.domain.com
uk.domain.com

and likewise. I have seen successful brands doing this.

Obviously a country specific works the best. ccTLD are still a thing in terms of SEO, but not the same as the used to be. Also if you adequate your own CDN with servers in each country, you will get the best of the best results.
But as I've mentioned in other posts is worthless to have a .fr, co.uk, .de, .es domains if you put everything in your US hosting. The latency for the EU crawler is going to be awful with a huge penalization over the time.

So if you go multi country, go with the full package. If you don't have resources you can scale down, without domains, with just 1 server and a CDN like cloudflare, ... And also if you are doing this by your own, doing multiple sites is very time consuming, while just mantaining translations is much more affordable.

Variables that you must take into account

Second option is better, but first is much better from SEO point of view.

Thank you so much for the answer @SERPhustler . I prefer for the subfolders version. can I index those versions for serp results.

I mean already indexed domain.com version in serp results. and can I index these domain.com/ca version as a another serp result?

If you want to get the best of best, yes, country specific hosting + domain = maximizing SEO profit from those two specific aspects.
