Hi Guys,

I'm planning to launch a new site in 2 languages. English & Polish.

The site will have the main .pl domain name but will have english by default and an option to select Polish version.

The site will have 4 pages and a blog and for SEO I want to target keywords both in polish and english. (say someone goes to google.pl and search for a keyword in english as well as polish so I want to compete for both)

I'm so confused on how to go on about this?

Can someone help please?

Thanks.

Why this site will have default English if it's .pl?

I suggest you to use default Polish for better usability.

You can add /en/ folder, this way you will pass link juice. Example:

name.pl -> Polish
name.pl/en/ -> English

Because my target audience are those who live in Poland (Expats) but speak English. Say a british person living in Poland going to google.pl and searching for "Diet pills" in english than in polish. I still want to rank for both the Polish and english keyword.

I will make the site in Polish by default and add a English option.

Having content with the same URL structure is going to affect this in any way? I mean the duplicate pages and content.

Make sure you have the correct html headers in your pages for setting language and encoding. Google will correctly index your contect.
As previously suggested make your main language under .pl/ and your polish version under .pl/pl/

Hey, I see, this makes sense then.

I suggest you to create separate landing pages for each language, for example:

name.pl/pigulki (I used google translate sorry if its not correct :))
name.pl/en/diet-pills

As the domain itself is polish by default, I wouldn't suggest to add additional folder /pl/, so it would be better to use name.pl/pigulki.
