MSN messenger Alternative

Typing Messenger alternative brings up a load of useless old articles. So i'm posing the question to the BHW masses. What's the best Messenger alternative that you found? I did use digsby for a while back in the day. Just wondering if there's been anything decent worth trying.

MSN for me keeps crashing and sometimes doesn't even bother logging in. It's days are numbered!

AIM, Skype.

and I use many more MSN works fine for me try to download new version?

Probably the same as voidale. but also use trillion...

Yahoo Messenger.

But mostly i only use AIM.

Ahhh yea. I forgot all about trillian. I got Aim and Skype and both work without any worries. MSN is updated and just reformatted yesterday so should be cool.

So i'm guessing for alternatives I'm looking at Trillian or Digsby(again).
If there's anything I'm missing out there please chime in

EDIT: OMG completely overlooked Yahoo's Messenger. I was using it waaaay back in the day when you had to have a different messenger for each service you were signed up with. Nice one

skype primarily, but for msn, I use trillian or pidgin
