Hi

So, I bought a random domain last week and today got a notification from GoDaddy that domain is transfered to me.

I forgot if domain had any links pointing to it so I wanted to check. Ahrefs show 0 links so I was wondering why I bought this domain and then went to MOZ to check if I saw something there and there was 0 links as well.

BUt in Just-Discovered tab at MOZ there was almost 100,000 links created Today!

I thought that someone from competitors in GoDaddy auctions wanted to spam my domain cause they lost it after I placed the highest bid. I was thinking, great, all anchors are different, links coming from both old and new sites etc etc...then I decided to check those links and noticed that all the anchors are on those pages where MOZ said that links are coming from, but those anchors are pointing to other sites. All of the links are pointing to other site.

Why is MOZ "giving" these links to this domain? Am I missing some BH thing here?

Maybe that's just a bug? You have 0 established links, it should show up a least a few.
Why have you bought the domain name in the first place?

haha, good question. It was ranking for some keywords in my niche if I remember correctly
I don't know if it's bug cause it started today and links keep coming in.

Are the links all pointing to one site, or a small amount of sites? Or is it totally random?

Edit: the idea I have in my mind (assuming it's not totally random, meaning numerous different sites) is a NSEO campaign using some kind of cloaking/redirection. If they know your info they can really pull some tricky shit on you.

Moz people are more into marketing than into giving quality product.

Ahrefs are totally into quality products and none into marketing

I've seen this shit happen before in open site explorer. It used to show links that are not there and it was oblivious regarding links that were present (talking about huffington post links not some anonymous web 2.0 property). I stopped using that piece of crap all together.

Stick to ahrefs or Majestic, or seo spyglass or cognitive seo. Even "links:domain.com" in google shows better results than Moz/open site explorer.

Moz never went full retard, it was full retard from the beginning, just like most of Friskin's advice, they sound good in theory but have zero real life application unless you're Adidas.

Yeah, I know this. i was just thinking how this is too much even for MOZ

Yes, all the links are from different sites and each link is with different anchor keyword. Not sure what is going on cause those links on these pages point to other sites, not my site

Its just a temporary bug because moz doesn't crawl that many links so soon. Check back after few days when they update their database.

Yes i am buying lots of expired domains. I always look at moz metrics. However they are almost never accurate. I guess moz counts the 301 redirect links to your site too. For example the previous owner of the domain 301 redirect another domain to the domain you bought. When he cancels the redirect moz still showing those backlinks but when you check manually you can not find them. That can be 1 of the reasons. Ahrefs is much much better when you are doing backlink search.

Also i don't care about moz metrics anymore. I look at PR. Check if its real or not or gamed. I look at the wayback machine and read the websites content and see if it has quality content or just a site with aff links or used for blog network linking. If its not used for some black hat method i buy it without looking at backlinks.

Everybody is asking for DA/PA of the sites. They are saying PR can be gamed but DA/PA is real. Reallly???? I can build 30000 cheap links to a site in 1 month and in 2 months i assure you da/pa will be 50. I have done it before. And google thinks that site is authority? No deff not. I am not saying DA/Pa is not important. Some expired sites go for 500-2000 dollars for DA/PA above 30-40 and has PR. Most of Those are really good domains and if you have the budget buy those. If not just buy a real high pr domain pr3+ and build backlinks to them.

Received Email from the previous owner and we signed a deal yesterday, they want to buy their domain back. Talking about being lucky

Well, as far from my experience I think Majestic is the best one for domain analysis. Didnt use Moz though
