If money aint a problem and you've got the yellow fever, go to HK. Its a paradise, ive worked there for 3 years and I would be living there if things were different for me. You have beautiful beaches 45 mins away, mini mountain areas with some beautiful waterfalls, and of course the joy of an amazing city in which you can have loads of fun. Great food and loads to do
Also, you have 1 hr flights to Thai, Vietnam, Singapur, and many other cool places.
If you are sticking to thailand, then chieng mai is a great option. Just make sure you are happy wherever you go
I always found Macau quite boring after awhile. The nightlife there is meh, but good eats. Hong Kong is my favorite stomping ground in that area, but damn if its not expensive (yes, you can get by on decent money but not if you want to live it up). I was recently listening to a podcast from a guy who has lived around SE-Asia for awhile, he said Chang Mai is quite good, but that you'll typically find guys who are banking small sums month to month to scratch by in hopes of bigger scores online (sub-$2k). It seems like the hotspot now for us Internet bandits is becoming Vietnam (much easier visa situation than Thailand).
Just read my thread - http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackhat-seo/blackhat-lounge/454649-anyone-here-thailand-wanna-gor-holiday-next-month.html?highlight=
