I want to move my site to a new domain, specifically I'm planning on buying a new .com and making a redirect from my current local tld. A few months back when I was really stupid I bought a domain with my target keywords but with a local tld. Now I realize this was not such a good idea - I am unable to change my location to global in the webmaster tools and all my SEO efforts bring no results - all my backlinks are higher than my money site. The only interesting bit is that I am somewhat higher in the SERPS (4-5th page instead of around 30th) when I check from neighboring countries through a proxy, like google.de, cz etc.
I want to get rid of this chain that ties my site to local serps only. But, if I make a 301 redirect to a global .com domain, will google still consider the site local, because the content will be exactly the same?
