Hi guys

I am creating a new website, but i just realised i still have an old domain with a lot of old news articles on it in the same niche (per article about 300 words). But these articles are from last year. Is it good for SEO to use those articles, when i de-index the old domain? Does Google consider this as crap, as it is old?

Sorry for my bad English :)

So, you wann use those old news for the new domain?? No...no please don't do that, the first thing is people will not be engaged by such old news as they already knew that...and google might affect your new domain, as you are using the same contents though they are de-indexed but still why do you want to take a chance!!??

Well, it is about 100 pages of content. Old or new news, it is still a lot of content :P

Use the content. Gogle will think it is content.

Don't drop the old site, redirect it unless it has a penalty.

301 redirect the old pages to the new pages (page by page) to perserve any link juice from the old site.

I root that, moreover the domain redirects are not very pleasant, be careful shibe!

Anyone have any experiences to share with moving an old penalized site to new site with old content. Provided, of course, no redirects and old site de-indexed?

Very tricky.. Well if that's me I would spin the old content I have and post them in my new site. Better safe than sorry.

Of course you can use the old content. De-index the old site first and then redirect it to the new site. Then use the old content on the new site, no problem at all.

i have to agree with this. I have seen it done countless times and it works perfect. I even remember cutts telling about this in one of his videos.

This is definatlly the best way to do it.

Nope, you are wrong. Redirect from de indexed sites to new clean site can send negative signal to your site and it may lead to penalty. I haven't tested it personally. But most likely the result will be like this.

Hi there OP. Make sure that your old articles weren't published somewhere (by RSS scrapers) or it will look as duplicate content in G's POV.

I'm not sure if redirects can carry over the penalties but I didn't took a chance. I have a site caught by Panda and Penguin (no manual spam action received). Fixing it for Panda was easy but cleaning it for Penguin was hopeless (it was actually my fault because I only learned of these two algos in March 2014). What I did was to de-index the old site first, then transferred the old contents to the new site, set all the old posts to no-index while making new "thick" contents. So far, the results are much better that trying to fix the old algo-captured site.

Yes, after de-indexing your old domain you can use your old site news content for new domain, but its not feasible for SEO because people are aware about old news, so those contents won't sound interesting.
