Moving from Wordpress to Magento: How will it Affect SEO

Hi guys,

A client of mine is making the move from Wordpress to Magento. How will it affect the SEO? Should we expect a drop in rankings? What needs to be done to avoid this? Moving forward, what needs to be done?

We're using Fishpig Wordpress Integration to use Wordpress via Magento. The URLs will remain the same, right?

Should I continue building links to the Wordpress site?

The new site name will be ecom.sitename.com though instead of the sitename.com. Do I need to do any redirects or work with the robots.txt file?

If you retain the same site structure, it should be fine.

When I have used the figpig integration, it added /blog/ to the url structure for wordpress pages so you may have to do redirects. Also, if you are changed the sitename, you will have to do redirects other wise all your links that you build will be broken.

Redirect the traffic from old site name to this new one to avoid broken link problem.

follow the google guidelines abour site migration. It will practically give you the best suggestions on how to do this the safe way.
