Moving from blogspot to wordpress without losing traffic or ranks?

I currently have a blogspot blog ranked #1 for 3 KW's. I want to purchase a domain and transfer everything over to the new site. Is there any way of doing this without with any of the ranks and traffic?

It won't affect your ranking if you know how to structure your permalink properly. I have move over five blog and non of them lose their ranking. But it will be easier if you are already using custom domain.

You will want to 301 redirect your blogspot domain to your new domain or you will lose your ranking. As mentioned by T2tkid, it would be easier if you already had a custom domain however there is some information on how to redirect the blogspot one.

Keep your blogger site running even after you have set up the other site and done the redirect. Keep an eye on traffic and watch as it tapers off on the old domain and ramps up on the new one. After a while you can successfully remove the old blog. Because you have the 301 redirect, you shouldn't have any issues with duplicate content.

many thanks to both of you. I pretty much made this as a test blog and It ended up doing very well. I can now start to scale my earnings because I know the methods to success. I will start to get my own domains as you both suggested. Many thanks!
