Moving from Blogger to new host

I am moving my site from Blogger to a new host so that I can use Wordpress. I know that shared hosting is generally frowned upon, but since the site has only been live for 30 days, I don't anticipate decent traffic for at least a few more months (slowly building backlinks, 3-5 blog posts per day).

How does VPS plans compare to shared hosting services? Would I be better off with the cheapest VPS at $20, or with a shared host such as namecheap, hostgator for the same price(I realize hostgator has VPS as well but for the sake of the conversation lets assume I'm talking about just basic shared)?

In the long run, a VPS or dedi will always outperform shared. But if you don't anticipate a lot of bandwith usage and server load, a shared account will do just fine. Be selective with a VPS if they are priced at roughly the same amount as a shared, you'll likely be stripped of features that make a vps easily manageable and scalable.

Thanks for the help. I decided to go with a 2-node VPS. I think it will be better in the long run since it will be easier to upgrade (just add another node, easy as that). It costs more but the host I decided to go with appears to be top notch in the VPS market.
