A need some advice please.

I have a website withe some content that I would like to move to another site (4-6 pages) as the original site is not ranking well and seems more efficient to move to the already established site in a similar niche. The original site is not penalised.

Whats the best way to do this to avoid a duplicate content penalty? Do I need to de-index in GWT? I have tried parking domains in the past but the indexed pages remain for ages in Google.

Thanks!

As long as the old content is deindexed you can use it on another site. So you have to get the content deindexed.

Okay, thanks. So deindex using Webmaster Tools then?

No need to deindex if your old site is not penalised and you do a permanent redirect from old URLs to new URLs. There are lot of plugins that do this job depending upon your CMS. With this you would also ensure you get the benefit of any backlinks in old URLs passed on to new URLs.

301 redirects and canonical tags on the old pages. As long as you are the author (both sites registered as your property on the same GWT account) you should not see a problem.

Place the content on the 2nd site, then 301 redirect the old one to the new.

Do not delist the old one, you'll be wasting the juice.

@Sristy Once the redirect is in place, do I need to remove the content from the original site? Do I need to get Google to recrawl the original domain?

Thanks.

After redirect just concentrate on your new site. Don't forget to renew your old domain so that you continue getting the link juice from backlinks pointing to your old domain to your new domain.

IMO i would move all content to new site and remove from old site .Ridirect old site traffic to new site.It takes time to index but it will be back on time.I have done similarly before did not get any problem.

301 redirect is the best way to avoid duplicate issues. There's no need for deindexation of the old site.

Thanks for all your help.

Imported the content onto the new site then used the plugin to create 301 redirects to the new URLs. Left the original content on the original site as well.
