Hi, I am thinking of moving my website business model away from adsense and other adverts to focus 100% on capturing emails, and then sell them thru a series of autoresponders (sell them clickbank products). So the site becomes a lead-capture machine, and nothing would distract from that.

My hope is that thru a long and valuable series of emails, I can establish trust and sell to a LARGE % of the recipients.

Advice, feedback, experience, ..... is appreciated.

Basically look at IM marketers websites, look how they promote their email lists.

Place it somewhere good, and offer them something to signup, free ebook/report.

Also try installing a popup which will let them sign up. See SEObook they have a good example of this.

Just make sure you put it in as many useful places as possible and give the user a reason to signup.

Would you recommend a popup that:
a) lights up immediately, like SEOBOOK
b) lights up after 6-7 seconds
c) lights up when they try to exit

good tip on giving them some freebie/ebook to sign up. Is there a cover maker script somewhere on here?

ya, you've gotta give them something for free when they sign up - and put this in a very visible place (above the fold for sure), or as stated above, a css/dhtml popup that can't be blocked by pop up software, a popup when they leave etc - but you've gotta give them a good reason for signing up or you wont get anything going

I can put a few articles from ezines together into an ebook with a nice cover (make the cover look like a book with appro. software), and offer that as an incentive... or a minicourse.
