If you would like to change the domain name only, and keep the Wordpress on the same server, you will need to change your DNS's A-Record for that domain name. You can change this with your registrars admin panel most likely. You will then need to change your apache (or other webserver) to give the Wordpress directory on your server when the new domain is requested. This is typically etc apache2 sites-available domainname . Try to copy your old domain file and just change the values needed. ...

    There are tutorial on youtube.

Go to general setting of your wordpress, change the url there. Be sure that the new domain is already propagated.

    - backup your files from FTP
    - backup your Mysql database
    - upload everything to the new server
    - change your config.php file to a new database
    - you need to change 2 rows in table 'options':

    siteurl

    home

to your new domain. That's it. you site is up. Don't forget to change permissions on your files (usually 740) but it should work either way.

If you are wanting to keep the same Page Rank of your site (if that's important for you), make sure to go into Google Webmaster Tools and let G know your changing the domain. This way you can carry everything over with you. Otherwise, you start from scratch with the same content.

It's a very easy process, but also don't forget to forward your old domain to the new one.
