Moving 1st page ranked website to another domain

Hi guys,

I need to do a very delicate operation: I have to change the domain and the content (also cms) of a website that is actually ranked on 1st page for its main keyword.

I know about redirect 301, so i can set the redirect of the 1st website to the new one... In this case will be the new website and domain ranked as the old one (1st page)?
Is this 100% working?

Do you have any suggestions?

You will lose ranking at first, it happens every time but you will eventually regain the rankings after 301 all the pages

Make sure to notify Google via the "Change of Address Tool" in GSC.

Omg so there is no certainty.

What if the new website has a big volume of backlinks? Will the old website backlinks added to the new one to have a total that can maybe get a better rank?

Yes, it can. Or it might completely backfire. Then again, you can always change the redirect to a fresh new domain.

Personally, I would not do any redirects on ranking pages that already make money.

You will see a drop in your ranking after 301 your website. But make you inform Google By GSC about the redirection. So, make sure you are setting up things properly.

Starting there will a drop rank but it will get back later. Make sure you redirect correctly.

While changing and after that few days you will have the rank loss, but mostly it will be regained later.

Thanks guys for your replies. So the best practices in this case are:

1. Set redirect 301 to the new domain
2. Tell Google through the GSC about the new domain
3. Wait

Is there any other thing i can do to avoid any position loss?
