Moved to Malaga

So I recently moved to Malaga because I had to, and who knew that Spanish people only speak Spanish. I didn't. English is alien for most of them. So while I'm learning Spanish watching Narcos...

Any of you loaded cats like myself living here? Most International people I have met here are struggling students. SEO isn't their passion either.

Why dafuq would anyone wanna live in Malaga. Especially if you're loaded. Sometimes IMers' life choices are beyond me...

I live in the middle of nowhere in Spain and there's plenty locals speak English.

Last time I was in Malaga plenty locals spoke English. The Spaniards just prefer not to do so.

If you gave me 5 million USD cash today I'd buy a nice apartment in Tokyo or maybe Toronto. Basically any big city with exotic culture that is still in a first world country. Low taxation would be nice too

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia - (No I'm not from Malaysia) - you can get a high rise building penthouse for like 1250-2000$. food is cheap and great, life is cheap, 90+% people SPEAK ENGLISH, people are pleasant and welcoming. dont listen to the bullshit the "international statistics" bullshit says about Kuala Lumpur, i've been there, its safe, clean and a pleasant place to live in. And people will say the internet speed is shit in Malaysia, i say yeah its shit with the standard internet, pay extra and you'll get good internet service. you can live like a king for 2000~2500$ per month.

I'm currently in the US right now, i have plans to move to Kuala Lumpur by the end of summer next year.

Hmm it's what you like. Although I could do that and exploit their low currency value, it sounds more like a holiday to me. Not a place to live in. I feel it does not have perspective. I'd prefer to live in California and expand my projects in the US. I was actually in Thailand so I know what you're referring to.

By Malaga do you mean the actual city, or one of the surrounding towns like Fuengirola? Plenty of English in Fuengirola and Torremilinos.

Actual Malaga. 5 minutes from the city centre.

I met some Spanish people that I hung out with. We even went to Marbella for a night out, but I won´t do it again. Not only do they speak Spanish all the time, we just have different cultural values. I feel in no way connected to their way of living. Their priorities appear to be backwards compared to mine.

Lots of English and Irish in Malaga.. and plenty of them well off too, it's not a place I'd of pictured as full of "struggling students".

I've a place in Murcia, Spain is my second home.. love it there. Most Spanish people I've found to be eager to help, but there are always old school residents that are of the opinion that you're in their country you should learn their language.. which is sort of understandable.

KL is boring at night though. I agree food is fantastic and your money does go a long way.
