I am currently with Godaddy hosting. I have 7 sites hosted there. 6 are wordpress sites and 1 is a gamesite with it's own database. I pay $17 per month. I want to switch to a more affordable hosting plan. Is it very hard to move these sites to a new host? Do you have any suggestions on a cheaper host?

Anything under $17 is gonna be real cheap service. Host [gulp] gator comes to mind....

cheaper is cheap for a reason...I wouldn't be going lower...just sayin......

stablehost is a cheap option, but again, if your sites are established, you may want to get the page speed in check which won't often happen with cheap hosts.

Hmm interesting replies folks. I thought $17 per month was expensive but apparently not.

I'm all out of "Thanks" for today but this comment made me laugh! :lmao:

OP, how large are your websites and how many visitors a day do they get? Moving a website generally isn't too difficult (it's pretty much just transferring your files and SQL database as well as changing your DNS records), although there may be some downtime involved.

Hey mate, you seem pretty clued up here in regards to this host changing stuff. can you please answer my question in the same WHITE HAT forum here.

Not all. I host my sites in a very cheap basic plan of a hosting company and with the proper WP plugins set-up, it has no problem getting 3000 visitors per day.

Look for discount codes preferably recurring that you could use with hosts like webhostingbuzz.

Check out bluehost, it's highly recommend from many different IMs. I just paid 142 for the plus account for 3 years with a free domain!

Much better than my fat cow renewal price of 80 for 1 year. Had to make the change

Well what you are paying is cheap IMO, depending on how much traffic you get. I also use godaddy but I don't find them too good in terms of hosting popular sites. Their plans are not flexible either ( i mean, you can't just add more bandwidth/ power to your hosting if needed). For the popular sites, I would always go for cloud services that have flexible plans such as amazon..

you can host them on hostmonster. It hosts unlimited amount of domain with the same price. the server is stable.

It depends. Do you want cheaper, better or both? Cheaper will be worse, better will be more expensive and both doesn't exist.

Good luck hunting for coupons to get something better for the same price.

What kind of hosting do you have for $17 a month?
For shared hosting that is on the higher side of the line, if its for a VPS you are doing well.

I have a few sites on a VPS of my own, with cPanel, not far from what you are paying a month.

I would say get away from HG anyway ;)
