Mother/child - minimum viable project

Is starting a mother/child project with just 5 child accounts worthwhile?

I can scale over time, but at the moment, 5 accounts are all I can do...

Are they enough to start? Will I see growth on the main profile? Content on the main profile gives real value.

Depends a lot how the main profile looks and if you post qaulity content, and niche as well. But aside that you should get between 5-10 followers per day according to how many hours you allocate

No, for 5 accs you can use a phone and add all 5 accounts on the same phone. After you use an account rotate the IP(put phone in airplane mode ON, wait 3 seconds, module airplane OFF).

BTW... do you have an idea how to scrape and eliminate duplicated Instagram usernames to follow?

Get me? I don't want to target the same people on different accounts.

5 sub-accounts are enough for you to start building a mini but quality system.

If implemented correctly, you can absolutely see clear growth in the main account, even creating real conversions. Don't wait until you have 10, 20 accounts to do it — start with 5 and do it properly!

Can I use my main phone(where my main account is) to start 1 or 2 more profiles?

Are there tools that can do that automatically? Because it sounds time consuming if you do it all manually on the phone

It is always a safe option to do it with phones. That way you will avoid certain flags when doing it on API

5 child accounts can work if each has a specific role to engage and amplify your main profile’s content.
 
I started with a few child accounts but quickly realized that without scraping data it will take me forever to start seeing results. So if you don't have a lot of time to operate many child accounts, you might want to consider scraping valuable data about your potential followers, competitors and influencers in your niche. I use Give Me data cause its easy and scrapes super fast, highly recommend it.
 
If the content on your main profile is truly valuable, you can see positive growth. Make sure you consistently engage with your followers and encourage them to participate.
