Most overhyped method you ever wasted time on?

For myself specifically I found that any type of mass outreach (in a sales/marketing sense). Not sure how "overhyped" it was but I used to often find myself chasing mass lead gen or mass marketing strategies for different verticals and though they worked... they weren't efficient and I was better off focusing on building real funnels that were sustainable.
Basically, I think anything that is hyped as a 'quick' way to bring on a lot of traffic or leads will lead you down a road of looking for lazy paths to big outcomes.
Definitely not saying they are bad methods and I'm sure lots of people here execute mass outreach strats very successfully. But that's just my personal experience.

cz that method is oversaturated at that time. and also facebook is very strict in copyright content policies. they simply remove your page from facebook without any warning. i grow many pages with copyright content i also sold some but most of my pages are banned after days. thats why i waste my 10 months on this method

Building blogs. Even more so now. I never ranked well more than a couple (i wouldn't count them as well ranked either! lol), and for the time writing and doing admin its just 25 hours a day, lol. I'm glad I seen the light, and turned my hand to ecommerce/saas/and IWA's. Much easier, and better sales, and clickthtough.
