What is the best type of link building/SEO for very small low comp sites, specifically single product review type sites? I can normally get them onto the first page but I want to rank 1st-3rd place.

Tiered link building is overkill and will probably get a slap happening.

Anyone know any good ways? Social signals? 2.0s? etc?

Have a look at what your competitors are doing and it will give you a better idea as to what you need to do. There is no one set rule for every keyword.

I'm using blackguy81 seo service from on here, I've read some good reviews from people who had low to medium competition keywords it's worth checking out

Start building web 2.0 links to your money site and after that you can think about something like
wiki links or a few high quality guest post.

Well he is asking about the most effective kind of links not what kind of links he could build. Not any kind of links. Read the question.

Lets just say that I have seen an EMD which earns probably over 1000$ a month which links profile consist of manually written web 2.0 sites with pictures and videos. Then GSA to the web 2.0's.

To summarize: 10 web 2.0 sites with hq content pictures and videos. Search for "make free website" and register to 10 of them (ones with high alexa rank because they won't go out of business soon). Also, do not use sites from senuke. Add unique content, maybe some introductory bio and the article with pictures and videos. Articles should be unique.
