Most easy going registrars besides internetbs?

I am not doing black hat stuff or have a specific need for bulletproof or super privacy but I am just a general privacy advocate and don't see why I should have to give KYC when it isn't necessary.

As such I want an easy going registrar who don't ask such intrusive stuff.

Internetbs has been great but since I am wanting to start a couple of new projects, which are different in theme to the ones I already have on internetbs, I would like to find a new registrar with similar easy going philosophies that I found with internetbs.

As a bonus, but not essential, I also like the old school, no frills, 2000s style layout of internetbs so would prefer another registrar with this spartan functional dashboard rather than the babyish mobile inspired layouts that are popular nowadays.

In my view, there are three notable providers: Namecheap – features a user-friendly interface, generally requires no verification beyond what is mandated by specific domain extensions, and supports WHOIS Privacy for many TLDs.
Porkbun – stands out for competitive pricing, a simple interface, and excellent support.
Dynadot – offers convenient domain management and a wide range of automated features.
 
Most registrars only ask for KYC when it's required for compliance or to prevent fraud. If privacy matters to you, choose a registrar that offers WHOIS privacy, has a transparent privacy policy, and keeps its interface simple. Just remember that some domain extensions or payment methods may still require identity verification.
 
I would concentrate on those registrars who have an excellent history in regards to confidentiality and do not require the use of WHOIS Privacy. Usually, they will only require additional checks if there is suspicion of any kind of fraud or compliance issue.
 
Alternatively, you may wish to consider registrars that have been established for some time now and are interested in offering reliability as opposed to dashboards. From my experience, almost all will not require any additional validation unless there is a financial transaction involved..
 
i have had good experiences with porkbun and njal.la. porkbun keeps things simple and usually only asks for what is required for domain registration. njal.la is popular with privacy focused users because they operate differently from traditional registrars, although that model has its own tradeoffs. i would also look at namesilo since they have a straightforward dashboard and free whois privacy on many domains. just keep in mind any registrar can ask for verification if there are payment issues or abuse reports.
 
I've had good experiences with porkbun and namesilo. they have straightforward dashboards, fair pricing, and generally don't make the registration process more complicated than necessary for standard domain purchases.

Thanks, yes njal.la was recommended before but I read bad stuff in reviews that you actually don't own the domain and they can take it away from you any time and reports of them keeping people's domains for themselves arbitrarily which did not inspire confidence.

From what I gathered your own privacy is kept because they register the domain under their name but with the big drawback that they can take control of it again at any time, which some users reported them doing.

InternetBS supporter should try NameSilo. this provider boast of a traditional style of dashboard, offer WHOIS protection free of charge on all TLDs, nd rarely asks question apart from payment-related one.

NameSilo is possibly the most similar if you enjoy the classic InternetBS style. the interface is clean, its easy to manage your domains, nd they won’t give you too many other things that you do not need.

A few recommendations for this one now then. I just looked and I already have an account.

I think I stopped short with this one because the domain cost was nearly twice the price of netim but now I experienced the KYC BS that is a small price to pay in comparison lol.

Or is this the registrar which says 'try to buy' on some tlds? That just confused me. I am not sure which is which because I was looking at a lot and one of them said that, it might have been spaceship.

EDIT: No, it is namesilo, I just checked and it came up on another search. I thought it was due to .uk based tlds, like .org.uk however I just saw it is also showing for .org only but strangely didn't happen for another .org I checked before with different main domain name. Can anyone explain what this try to buy means and what triggers it?

internet.bs was great when it was in Bahamas. Now its owned by a UK company Centralnic/Team Internet.

As I told in earlier threads I've used openprovider, ourdomain.com, the-online.com and gransy to be quite liberal, lenient, and strictly NO KYC.

While porkbun asked me to do KYC the moment I opened an account so I am staying away from this. Plus there are some complaints about them in another forum where porkbun suspends your domain if Google flags it. Namesilo is better. But again avoid namecheap/spaceship.

Other one I used was Shinjiru. but they stopped selling .com domains and routed to ilovewww.

Thanks, some ones I had heard of before as well as a couple of new ones.

Can anyone tell me what will happen with the current one which netim holds ransom which they will not release until I verify? Can they hold it for the whole year until the domain would be up for renewal? It is besides the point now since I won't want to run a .uk domain due to added difficulties with KYC but I am still interested to know if/how they have the authority to hold it like that.

They also seem to ignore my support question when I asked them how long they will hold it.

usually if they are holding it for KYC purpose or abuse they'll hold until it is resolved from your side. May be they'll attempt to renew domain on expiry date if that's is a good-asset or send it to auction.
