Google is a rampaging bull and the constant updates to serp results shows the blood bath is not over yet. I have seen various postings here and at other forums promising to help you recover from panda or penguin updates. Maybe my observations will help you save your hard earned money:

1 - The more backlinks you create, the more rankings you lose. Forget using generic anchor test as the recent Google update can now catch the trend and your website would be penalized.

2 - Public blog networks will now die much quicker because of the huge footprints.

3 - Web 2.0 backlinks are slowly losing ranking power and by the next few months most would be worthless.

4 - Article directories cannot be relied upon as backlink sources. Google mostly would ignore the links, indexed or not.

Now if all the above links would hurt your site, what can you do to rank your site with all the constant updates. Presently, NOTHING! Some steps you can take to survive this slaughter:

1- Create more unique contents using LSI keywords and update your website more often

2- Learn content curation techniques and implement them on your website. Do not just copy and paste, but re-write the snippets in your own words and give credit to the original source.

3- Create videos and distribute them to about 5 to 10 video hosting sites including youtube. Be sure to vary your description on all the video sites.

4 - Bookmarking is good, but buying bookmarking services would give you no added benefits. You need to go back to the original intent of bookmarking and you would get some positive results. But, simply blasting your site to hundreds of bookmarking sites would get you noticed in a bad way.

Some Observations:

Ignore anyone telling you they have the formula to get your rankings back. Truth be told, the Google massacre is ongoing and no one knows the new ranking metrics.

Maybe you should know, indexed backlinks means nothing as Google is now a 24/7 thinking, breathing algorithmic machine. I am sure some of you have noticed how your rankings drop the more backlinks you create.

Eventually, Google would settle down and the new ranking metrics would become clearer. But for now keep your head down, build more contents, create videos and do some normal bookmarking.

Google is determined to de-index millions of websites as a way to clean up the SEO cesspool. Some privileged information cannot be posted here (as Google monitors all top IM forums), but seek out someone on the inside and you would find most of my observations above are deadly accurate.

Also, lookout for massive closing of adsense accounts used on a lot of de-indexed websites. Adsense accounts would become harder to get as the months go by.

Why is Google doing this? That I cannot tell you, but I know adwords spending is growing rapidly and the next quarterly earnings report would surprise many people.

I know a lot of people reading this won't like it, but the truth is the truth. Google is undoubtedly becoming more and more aggressive with spammy links and the best thing anyone can do right now is quality content and quality links.

More backlinks will kill your website? than how about authority sites that get linked to organically? while some may see their rankings drop recently, i know tons of people that are still ranking new sites over and over. Yes some types of backlinks are considered spam now but if you know what your doing then it doesn't matter. You act like nobody is still improving their rankings.

What are you basing all this on? You give a bunch of advice but don't show any proof of what you are saying or even how you came to these conclusions.

At the moment, linkbuilding does still work if done right- people are still seeing results. On a more speculative point, backlinks might suck as a measure of site quality, but what better choice does Google have other than analyzing both on-site and off-site? The combo is still likely much more telling than just on-site where it can still be hard to determine quality in terms of what readers are looking for.

On a side-note, how do you know about adwords volume? My adsense ads are performing better lately, but that data is way too weak a correlation. You might have better data though.

Thanks for the tips. Can someone go more in depth about LSI keywords? Thanks!

Although, link building is still the best way to get into Google.

Have to disagree with you on most of your points about back links not working. Out of several hundred sites I manage 1 has had an issue with Penguin. I have 20 test sites and although your correct about the social media, your dead wrong on your other points.

The issue with most people is they think SEO is a push button service. It's not. Yeah you gamed the system for a while and Google put a stop to it. Why be upset about that?

Your observation points are mostly crap. If you have actual evidence post it, otherwise its total fear mongering BS.

here's my take on it:

Google is taking this monopoly more and more seriously.
They cant stand the fact that facebook is growing by day.

Google changed the way they rank sites for one simple reason: adwords.

Businesses will be spending more $$$ to advertise. CEO's and CFO's of big corporations that rely on online presence and sales will have to step up their marketing campaigns.

We all run around like chickens with no heads( one says to sit back and wait for google to resume regular operations, one says put up new content, one says get more wikis...).
ALL BECAUSE WE LOST RANKINGS.

This is what google wants: hurt the little guy( I am a little guy, eventhough I run close to 300 sites), make him pay to get to page 1.
Then hurt the big guy and make him pay a fortune to make sales.

I am guessing that next quarters earnings will be through the roof.

Knock my word: today's Google shares are priced at : $571.48 ( as I type this).

BUY, BUY, BUY

(I am buying for sure, as I have for the past 2 weeks)

DISCLAIMER
I AM IN NO WAY AFFILIATED WITH GOOGLE INC AND YOU SHOULD NOT BUY GOOGLE STOCK STRICTLY BASED ON MY RANT

LOL

Keep thinking backlinks dont work buddy, seriously.

Sometimes I read things like this and think that essentially it sounds like it could be right.

After all Google should be looking to weed out spammers and manipulators and promote good content.

But then I also think Google gets far too much credit. The thing I would disagree with is that "more links gets you less results". How could Google make your rankings worse based on a large number of links being created? Surely the worst they can do is not count those links, maybe mark them as spam.

If it was this simple to reduce your rankings, you'd only have to apply it to your competitors sites.

I would also disagree with most of what you posted. Backlinking is still the most effective way to rank no.1 for a keyword. Google still relies on this but now its about quality mixed links built in a way that keeps you under the radar. If you think you will rank at the top of your niche by just adding content only and Youtube video links then you have prob failed with your methods and assume linking does not work. The problem is that YOU are not doig things the right way post Penguin/Panda and not that the links do not work.

The key relevant word is AUTHORITY sites. No doubt some people still rank with backlinks, but I am seeing trends that are too obvious for all to miss. As you know by now, this is not a simple algorithmic change but a colossal re-evaluation of SEO ranking perimeters.

Not my intention to argue blindly with anyone. If you have a working angle, good for you and many here would like to know the backlinks used. I have learned the hard way never to follow the masses and look at the road less traveled.

yah you are right.Need to be very careful with backlink.Wiki and web 2.0 s are good.

OP was specifically talking about back links you create for yourself, and I agree about his conclusion regarding such back links. Such links are, by definition, unnatural. Google is demonstrating that they are becoming more and more skilled at detecting and defeating such linking schemes.

OP was definitely not talking about natural back links, which are links created by other people simply because they like your content.

Sure, there are still some who have not yet been hit by Penguin. I emphasize "not yet". Panda has already had many expansions and changes to it in the months since it first hit, and there is every reason to believe that Penguin will do the same. So if you've got some secret splog networks or something similar and you haven't been hit yet, rest assured...you will be at some point.

I also agree about creating new, unique content. I would add the word "valuable" to the list of adjectives, since that's what Google really rewards.

To the best of my knowledge, no search engine uses LSI. The overhead cost of doing so is prohibitive so far, although it cannot be ruled out for the future.

Some of what OP wrote is exaggeration, but the exaggeration is acceptable.

As to why Google is doing all this, it's simple. They want to improve the quality of their search results, including for paid search.

Same questions go to you as go to the OP: http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackh...links-will-kill-your-website.html#post4384880

What are you basing all this on?

Furthermore, there is often a grey area between natural and not. That is how you should be building links and you'll be fine.

They have screwed it up worse in my opinion. I have spammy affiliate sites that provide absolutely no value to the visitor with all my content locked and they all rank in the top 3 for their niches. Some of my other sites that provide good solid helpful content and are actually valuable resources and can not be found in the top 10 pages. No difference in past seo strategies for any of my sites. So I am not sure what to make about what they are trying to do.
