Hey.

Let's say there are 2 websites

Website 1 - 10 internal pages
Website 2 - 100,000 internal pages

Both these websites have the same number of backlinks coming from the same websites *(backlinks are only linking to the homepage)*. Will the backlinks be more effective for Website 1?

I mean, is it correct to say that the website with more internal pages requires more link juice to perform better on search engines?

[Note] Backlinks are only being made for the homepage of both websites instead of any internal page. So we're assuming that pages other than homepage have 0 backlinks for both websites.

100k content our weighs the x10 page content via miles .

if both setup the same and seo'd correctly the 100k will win .

bAsed of good and more content.

you need to beat all competition website including pages of content .

but but but .....

if you can produce factual content of what the 100k pages are about then your win for perfect facial content

or you can count up the 100k content in written words and do more content on the x10 website , that wins aswell .

mmm yup that's also right but I'm just trying to understand something. Doesn't the link juice from the homepage is distributed to other internal pages of that website?

I mean, lesser the pages, more link juice each page will get and maybe perform better in the search results.

having a big website, should increase your traffic to look deep into other pages, means there looking longer, makes google think you got something special here.

traffic based on many factors scored with google and also positioning.

time on page.
keywords used
linked from who
ect ect ect

the only real way to bypass this is pbn to false google thinking you're very important.

let say I wrote a really in depth article on a news item.

if I got a news well-known website backlinking me my google position will be very high for my article heading.

backlinking is usually the power of SEO and good SEO on page and off page and a good domain.((of course brilliant articles /content))
website speed means a lot now days as well.
of course, social links with content.

the best thing about SEO is your in control because you just beat every thinks your competition got.

I always x2 everything.

pages
articles
images
video
social pages
links
comments
forum posts
social posts
backlinks

the name is older than the comp.

everything x2 to beat the comp.

if that don't work and get me on top of them then I start pbn creation till I do beat them.

only real way

don't forget being at number 1 is ultimate if your number 2 or 3 is good but number 1 link seems to get the most traffic ever.

try to atleast get all your longtail kw at the top.

As far as link juice is concerned, think in terms of pages & links - not for the whole domain. If X links are pointing to a page and it has 10 links on it then it gets divided between the 10 links. The link juice that is passed to the linked page is then split across the links on that page..and so on...

That's why internal linking is important.

For your question, it depends on how the 10 or 100K pages are linked between each other. I would go with 10 pages if it is just about the link juice.

The 100K page site may have other benefits - more keywords to rank for, improve authority in the eyes of google, etc

Hey, thanks mate. Here's what I'm thinking (I could be wrong). It's much easier to increase rankings and DA, DR, TF of websites with less number of pages as compared to a website that has hundreds of thousands of pages. Basically I'm working on a website that could eventually have many many pages (think of it as medium or quora). Now, there's no way I would be able to create backlinks for all internal pages and my best bet is to build high authority backlinks linking to the homepage instead.

If it was just a simple blog with 50-100 internal pages, a few hundred (good quality) backlinks linking to the homepage would have worked well enough to see a significant increase in the ranking of internal pages. However, if I'm talking about a website with a very high number of internal pages, I probably need to put in x100 more effort into link building.

Aside from this, I definitely agree that google will have a special status for the website with a higher amount of content.

How do you plan to organize 100K pages? Are you planning to have sections/categories? If yes, then along with homepage you can build links to those as well.

Individual pages should get backlinks organically over a period of time - assuming the content is good.

One concept that works well is to think in terms of depth - how many clicks away is your page from the homepage. This will help in both link juice and indexing.

Connecting internal pages is good but make sure they are relevant and will be useful to the readers. Or else there is no use in connecting it.

I swear I saw this same question asked like a week ago.

But to answer the question, I think the biggest advantage of site no. 2 is that with such an overwhelming amount of pages, it'd eventually rank for long tail and low competition keywords. If it managed to rank just 2% of its pages, it'd rank for 200 keywords.

More the no of links, lesser the link juice for each pages. Also it is important to make sure those are relevant pages. Google always focuses on helping the readers to get the quality information.

The 100k one if proper interlinking is dine it’ll pass major power boost to all the pages, but if there’s no interlinking then there might be a issue

Forget those metrics
They are purely orientation based, not something u should blindly follow.
