    Well Social is Done... Or so they say? Like I've said before relying on social information is a bad idea, if Facebook/Twitter die out like Myspace Google will be in a world of hurt trying to reorganize everything.

    But overall..

    Really not much is new.

    Just Matt Cutts, speaking even louder about how it's going to be major major major, etc.

    Just like any other site on the web can prevent Google from crawling their pages or simply take the site offline. B.S.

    Google can only use social signals from Open Graph sources. It can't crawl Facebook pages to see who is reputable, reliable or has real world impact as a brand has on those platforms ... [Twitter is also] a private service. If Twitter wants to suspend someone's service, they can. Google was able to crawl Twitter until its deal ended, and Google was blocked from crawling those pages for 1.5 months. As such, Google is cautious about using that as a signal - Twitter can shut it off at any time.

    That's what caught my eye as well. This could turn nasty as they each vie for position and then as stated in another post you can now add Amazon into the mix securing e-commerce. Somebody is going to fall and keep in mind Google relies on third party content. Watch each new SERP algorithm turn into a weapon against the competition.

    Same ole crap, different day.

    Matt going around trying to spread fear in webmasters.

    Matt should concentrate on users experience, like he preaches about, instead of Google vs SEO. The user experience is the real loser in this battle. While Google is out trying to terminate the seo industry, which they won't, and crush their competitors, they'll lose the user experience and their credibility is finished.
