MORAL DILEMA .........what do you think?

Ok guys so I have been working a blog pretty hard covering Relationships and WHATEVER, I am really dedicating myself to this as I am going to school for relationship psychology and counseling. I have found a certain other blog where I have been "trolling" lightly and offering advice as I go really build a reputation with these people as they are hurt and I DO NOT feel the need to damage them anymore. The blog they are on now is more of a community of broken people with no real leader and the guy who designed it only did so to sell his book and program. He offers no advice to the people other than what they purchased. SO my question is.....

Would it be wrong of me to start pushing my link and redirecting these people to my blog? Especially if they are asking me for my link and if I have a blog? I just dont want to do an internet no no and steal clients form anyone.

eh, i've seen worse ways of marketing yourself but you migh adversly affect your reputation and get thrown off that blog
 
Why don't you guest blog on it if you think you're that good? Be a more honorable way of doig it that will look good to people
 
There is nothing wrong with you passing your link along, especially since they're already asking for it.

It seems like you want to actually help these people (and are in a decent position to do so given your schooling) rather than the person's site they are currently frequenting... some would say it would be morally wrong for you not to share your link.

p.s. You are not stealing anyone. You are presenting them an alternative solution, in the end THEY will make the decision via free will on which solution they feel will benefit them the most. Noone is being forced into anything.

Yeah see thats the only thing.....I mean the guy does offer a place for you to add all of your links so it is open information so when people ask I just tell them to check my profile so they do it all on their own and I am not directly giving it to them.

Hell it aint got nothing to do with me thinking I am good. It seems that the people on there do. I simply offer advice when asked and I get praised and called a damn "guru" when I hit it on the head. And others come back whinning sayin "man I shoulda listened to you"........I know this is off topic but LOL I didnt say it they did.

As far as guest blogging I mean I guess I kinda misrepresented it, it is more a forum setup than anything else but the fact remains that the OWNER/creator never shows because he has sold his product and that was his goal. The forum is for users of the product and it seems the forum is NEVER even moderated or anything.
 
Hell yeah you should do it, are you hurting anyone? Maybe the orginal blogger, but this is what people call progress. If you can offer a better brand to a target audiance then its a win for you and for the people that need help. The orginal blogger will either need to progress furture to compete or die out. And if they are asking for your link because you actually show support then you should not feel bad or morally corrupt.
Plus this is a black hat internet marketing forum, so unless your stealing money from diying children than you should be ok here.
 
I wouldn't worry about it too much. If it's a forum, it's totally okay to post external links. I constantly use forums as a part of my backlink building strategy.
 
SEE and this is why I love you guys, You shoot it straight..... Whether it is good or bad and a tad sarcastic at times that makes you wanna choke someone through the screen(not the case here) LOL. I appreciate all the opinions so fast as I just wanted to make sure I wasnt violating and Internet code of conduct. :)
 
If you've built up a relationship with the blog owner and readers posting a link should be fine where relevant.

I do similar stuff often. Got to make sure you don't just spam your link though.
 
... wow, this is not a moral dilemma I expected to see on blackhats... but, as the owners never shows you should be fine. Especially as you can direct people to your website in your profile. Or set up a signature with your credentials and website and a fun quote.
It sounds like the users appreciate your honesty so just keep doing what you are doing.

Good luck with your blog and studies. Psychology is fun.

Thanks guys, AS I stated I just wanted to make sure I wasnt doing like and "internet version" of shoplifting or anything. I have since been doing what people ask of me and just providing the link. THUS far it seem to really be taking off I mean people are happy to hear what I have and just keep asking for more. Just trying to now figure out how to really monetize it with out raping the crap out of them or scaring them off. I mean I have no problem helping people out and giving free advice.......BUT if it is so good AND they keep coming back for more so it must be working.....There is obviously a point at which I have to cut off the free service plan.

Any Ideas?
 
I don't think there's anything wrong with doing it. But just don't expect to be a member in that blog for too long - ie once they realise you are a competitor.
 
If you care, and can actually help these people there should be no dilemma
 
I don't see anything wrong with posting your link especially if your blog is filled with useful information.
 
If you are offering good counsel and solutions for their problems on your blog,i don't think its wrong
 
As said by other members above, there are marketers who have been using worse methods than that and since the members there are asking for the links, there's nothing wrong in sharing your links.

You could also try guest posting too as that would help you even more.
 
If your goal is to help people and give advice, why not? You are not hurting anyone. You are actually helping (if that is your goal). The fact that they requested your link should make you do it right away. Alternatively you can PM the members your link if you don't want to publicly post it.
