Ok so I was on Isohunt a few minutes ago looking for a CD, and I came across the top searched lists. Fourth on there was "Angels and Demons". The movie doesn't come out til Friday, but if there was really a DVD rip on there, I wanted in. I found a listing for an aXXo torrent of the movie. It had sixteen thousand seeds and twice as many leeches. Curious, I clicked on it, and it was a fake, passworded torrent.

What I was thinking is that someone could easily impersonate aXXo by making their torrent title legit-looking, upload a 700MB random AVI file with the filename changed to something legit-looking, and then a password TXT file entitled "ReadMe" or something like that. The AVI file is passworded and the ReadMe has a link to the password, or a CPA offer ;). Now I'm unsure as to whether or not this idea has been tossed around here, or the CPA section, or the Torrents section, but I think it's worth another thread if so. Enjoy!

This is a very old torrent method and it never converts well and will get the torrent deleted fast on ThePirateBay etc.
 
Yeah does not work well cause people go crying in the comments of the torrent that its bullshit and gets flagged and removed fast and you banned from the public sites.
 
I'm surprised the fake torrent would still be there with that many people downloading a fake copy.
 
it's extremely old methods not working anymore now.
 
The only problem is that regular torrent users know that axxo never password protected his/her torrent so they would report the torrent quickly. You might be able to get few download but it wont go viral.
 
people are doing this from years :D It has worked in past.. not now.
 
The thing is. You PURPOSELY slow down your upload (If your the only person seeding), so that you get a shit tonne of people downloading all at once.

If you set your upload to maximum, then the first person that gets it will call BS and your dead. But if you slow it down, you will get like say a few hundred or thousand people downloading at once (And generally when they start downloading they dont check the comments again after that point).

Then once you get a few thousand downloading on your f'ing slow torrent. You boost your speeds up with say a seedbox or something similar. And those thousand people should all finish within pretty close to each other (Esp if others are also uploading while downloading). The trick is to get alot of people to START downloading, before ANYONE FINISHES downloading.

lol he's happy you y'all think it doesnt work anymore...doesnt that tell you something?!? :) never really liked torrenst's unless you got a good box wiv bandwidth for the initial seed
 
Thanks this has put my mind in a rotation of ideas which are hopefully going to evolve my other methods to looking more legit and less banning in the very near future. I am definitely going to give you some reputation points for this since it was just what i needed in time of need.
 
This method leads you to slow conversion rates, and 2ndly the biggies like TPB and MINI are updating there self damn quickly now a days, so most probably there are 99.9% chance to get a file deletion, use something new,
 
the mthod itself is very old.
but i use it since more than 4 years with my own twists with still fantastic success.
it still works, but you have to get your own twists.
the things pyronaut says for example are good hints.

Give the guy some credit, he's not going to throw a bogus idea at you, I'm sure. You think he did it for the thanks or something? He's got plenty. I think this is a very genuine idea, and could work with the ideas that others who have responded positively have given this thread.

Those aren't real people ;)

It is pretty easy to fake the number of peers/seeds on many torrent trackers. However it will poison the torrent until you turn off the fakes...

PS doesn't work with the piratebay so don't bother.

Op this is a very very old method.
 
Old enough to have gone through it's saturation cycle and be untapped once again, do you think?
