Ok so I was on Isohunt a few minutes ago looking for a CD, and I came across the top searched lists. Fourth on there was "Angels and Demons". The movie doesn't come out til Friday, but if there was really a DVD rip on there, I wanted in. I found a listing for an aXXo torrent of the movie. It had sixteen thousand seeds and twice as many leeches. Curious, I clicked on it, and it was a fake, passworded torrent.
What I was thinking is that someone could easily impersonate aXXo by making their torrent title legit-looking, upload a 700MB random AVI file with the filename changed to something legit-looking, and then a password TXT file entitled "ReadMe" or something like that. The AVI file is passworded and the ReadMe has a link to the password, or a CPA offer
. Now I'm unsure as to whether or not this idea has been tossed around here, or the CPA section, or the Torrents section, but I think it's worth another thread if so. Enjoy!
