Had a domain that was not doing anything so wanted to conduct experiment, blasted with SB - not huge list maybe 1k.

Check emails this morning Bluehost deactivation..

WTF is this common..

Im sure I have done this before in the past with no issues...

ask support why you got deactivated. Probably malware on your site or something minor

Unfortunately, it looks like admin of some blog reported you. I think that this is one of the main reasons why SB blasts shouldn't go directly to money site.
Try to contact BlueHost support, and see if account can be unsuspended. I'm not sure about their Abuse policies, but if this is your first violation, they may unsuspend you this time.
If they ain't gonna do it, pack your bags, take a backup, and move everything to some other host.

There are other things that could happen to your domain because of this. I'm rather new in all of this, but I would say that big G might sandbox you if you're making such a big blasts pointed directly to money site.
I'm little bit paranoid myself, and I'm doing blasts for tier2 sites only :)

This can be done by anybody.
So, if your competition is on bluehost, blast them away.
