i am looking into paying vbulletin to make me a forum website. how much money is in forums? also what can i expect to make off of affiliate and Adsense? i have heard very different results.

any advice?

thank you for your time.

Forums are great since you dont have to create the content yourself but it can be hard to get it going. What you will earn will depend on hos much traffic you got and of course the niche.

There's no reason to choose vBulletin. I run several forums and one of them is a vBulletin forum. I prefer MyBB and SMF over vBulletin.

Forums are good to earn but hard to get members unless you have something unique to offer ur members
Forums are hard to get off the ground. No one wants to post on an empty board. If you do get a lot of users your hosting costs could get pretty high too.

The only advantages of using vbulletin in my opinion are the cool themes and plugins available, but if you are capable or have a good designer you can turn mybb into a really good themed forum and it also have tons of plugins and its all free

Not to mention that mybb is very friendly like to people that arent very good deploying permissions and stuff.

IPB is another option however paid like vbulletin.

I really like your avatar than what you are saying here :)

Cheers!

Forums are easy to grow and tough to monetize. One of the best ways to make money off a forum is to build it and sell it.

Vbulletin is good. Go with the open source forum software if you've never done one before. Setting up a forum for every little detail takes a lot of hours. Vbulletin is expensive, if you don't have a serious plan to monetize.

I set up a forum to increase sales of a guide I wrote... it was A LOT of work.

Thanks. It's a new one. I just uploaded.
No but seriously. I've tried to do forums before and had a hard time getting them off the ground.

I did like Vbulletin best but hated paying for it.

In my expierence vBulletin works great...but its very expensive!

Yes, forums are great, but if You need some posts, why don't You buy them from fiverr?

I've tried buying posts off Fiverr before and got the majority of times by users copying and pasting from other forums. The one good seller I did find that was reliable and had decent post quality stopped selling gigs unfortunately :(

If you're looking to populate your forum though, postloop is another option, though even that can be a little hit and miss at times.

Yes, there are many lazy people in fiverr doing everything bad, fast etc You can claim a dispuse I think and keep Your 5$.

i like ipb, a forum its not easy to start, u must choose a good niche

I have a great domain and forum i know will do very well. im going to try vBulletin and see how it goes. it looks like a 250 one time fee, right?

Forums are good for earning handsome but you have to look after all the time. A single person can't do this job I think a team of 6 people can do this job easily.

vBulletin is good, but I think that IP Board is better (more secure against attacks). As for earnings is quite difficult to create a discussion forum which makes money. Ads generally not earn much. Rather, I suggest to introduce a paid section.

I would want to hire people but most forums don't include any paid positions for moderators and such. If I would need to pay some then I'm okay with that but I don't want to over/under pay.

I am wondering if I would need any special hosting plan with GoDaddy.

Thanks guys.
