Monetizing Private University

Hello guys Ive been trying a lot of methods on BHW with some success. While I was learning about IM I overlooked a very profitable situation. I am in one of the richest universities in my country. With richest I mean the average student is well off.

The whole time it was in front of me and I didn't see this, too caught up with doing methods online. I was looking for an audience, while I have a very targeted traffic already.

i have been thinking about ways to monetize. One is selling answers for online tests. Either with subscription or yearly fee. I have no idea if this is legal or not?

Anyways guys I just want to start this discussion and brainstorm all together, if anybody finds himself in a similar situation this thread will be a good reference

I doubt selling the answers is illegal but you could probably get kicked out. I think the way to go would be to start a mailing list for some relevant niche. Maybe for campus events or affiliate sales on tickets or something.

It's a rookie thing to think that because a cohort has money that you should target them. If you're selling a product or service at a high price your audience will wants deals, added extras, special treatment ect... In my opinion you don't have any advantage over anyone else in any other university. I'm not say that you couldn't monetize but I'm saying look at other factors, other than wealth. For example, think about the type of community there is, community would probably be strong in a private university, think about monetising that sense of community instead.

Thats what I thought when I first started and why all my focus went online but realizing the students are very inclined to spend on events, get togethers I can profit while supporting my lifestyle in college. Many way I can go with this no?

The basic thinking is very good. 1st Factor - a target audience that has a big thing in common (uni) and plenty of money to spend is great.
If you have access to the tests and its solutions you are made man. 2nd Factor solve a problem of the target audience, you will solve a problem this kind of guys would pay everything they have for! Probably they learned to solve problems that way, and you give them an instrument for this situation.
Search for a middle man, dont do it yourself to keep your ass out of problems.

Create a dating app specifically for students that are well off and rival "The League" or create a fraternity social network type app. I'm guessing you've got some money to spend since since you're also in a university for people that are well off.

My guess would be a mobile app as well for some demand your campus may have that still hasn't been exploited by Facebook. Or perhaps a Facebook app for that specific purpose.

I assume you are 1st or 2nd year (perhaps it took you 1 to 2 years to start thinking about making money from that audience), if you are 3-rd or 4-th year it will be hard for you to run the project due to time scarcity.

My suggestion is - make a membership site with packages 1day/7day/a month. Pick your target by faculty, better start with yours first. Gather as much materials as you can. Lectures, test templates (with and without the answers), some case studies related to the hand-on classes, essays, and all kind of papers related to various assignments given through the years.

You can start picking them from the web, leaked info from other universities, scrap content from solid sites in that scientific field, gather anything related to the subject you are targeting(do a basic editing). When you do that you got some base to build upon.

Local attack - Find the nerds/geeks or whatever they are called, they always got all the materials stacked and ready for the exams, but they never would give them away just like that. Do not try to convince them, lure them. Connect with them directly or indirectly you know some guy/s that knows a nerd for sure. You need just 4 (one in each year, or one which is in the last year and you will hit the bullseye) of them in order to build your database for the whole course of education of a certain specialization. You need to invest some time in that process though. If I were you, I would pick the nerd girls first, it was always working like charm for me. I hope you know how to play that part (hey no need to fuck them if you dont want hahaa !). In some case you may try to buy the info, but do not rush with that, leave it as a last resort.

When you are ready, start the buzz. Somebody made a site and you heard that it was full of the info you all need. Tell that to a few people, if they ask you what is the url you tell them you do not know, but you will ask for it. Next time when you meet them wait for them to ask you about the site, if they do tell them the url and tell them you got subscribed and make the presale. If they dont, pick a right moment and just mention that you are very happy with the site. This is very important you have to protected yourself all the time. Do not tell anybody that you own that thing!

On that stage the things will be very easy for you. Add special services in the site, if someone want custom job (essay or even thesis offer full range of services), hire freelancers and deliver, charge high for this. Also boost the prices before every exam session.

If you do that, you can monetize and develop the project even after you graduate.
