Thought I'd start this thread to get/discuss your views on monetizing Instagram and how choosing a specific niche factors into that. Some questions/things to consider:
1. For monetization purposes, is it better to be in a broad niche or specific niche? For example, you could be in general fashion (broad) or in kids' fashion (more specific). I would assume you are more likely to grow faster and bigger by choosing the general fashion niche but on the other hand, I would also assume that you could make the same amount of money or even more if you're in the kids fashion niche and have only 50k followers as compared to being in the general fashion niche and having 100k followers. Reasoning: If you're in a very specific niche, you have less competition and additionally, you have a very specific target audience (follower base) and therefore, people looking to advertise on your page are willing to pay more because they'll know they are reaching the right audience. If you're in the general fashion audience, perhaps 1% or less of your followers may be interested in kids fashion, for example.
2. Speaking purely about making money off of shoutouts/advertising/sponsored posts or whatever you wanna call it, what niches in your experience pay the best?
3. Engagement. We all know that the number of followers is not the only factor that determines how much you can charge people for sponsored posts. Engagement is important too. This includes likes and comments. In your experience, which niches are the ones in which people tend to engage more and how do they engage? For example, I find that in comedy niches, you have a lot of people tagging their friends in comments, which is great! Friends often share the same humor. Not everyone is into weapons though, so you probably won't find many comments on popular weapons pages where people tag their friends on pictures.
I will edit and add more topics as I think of them. Looking forward to hearing some words of wisdom from you guys.
