monetizing instagram with spreadshirt/cafepress/etc?

Has anybody had experience monetizing their big instagram pages by making designs for their own t-shirts, hoodies, etc and selling through spreadshirt/cafepress/zazzle etc?

And if so, could you share with me that experience?

What is there to share? Sounds pretty simple to me...
If you have a large following on instagram (300k+) it can be highly profitable to sell them T-shirts if the niche calls for it (EG: Fitness pages selling gym clothing) but if you have a random meme page it probably won't have much success.

I guess i should have elaborated but what im asking for is specifically about using sites like spreadshirt vs. making your own website and selling shirts through that(shipping them yourself etc).

I would like to start my own clothing line for my niche but at this point in time, i don't think getting a supplier and shipping all the clothes myself would be realistic. So I am wondering if anyone has seen success with sites like spreadshirt where you upload designs to a store, they ship and take care of everything and you get a commission out of it.
