Hi Guys,

Happy new year to you all :)

This year I am going to embark on developing an authority site that aggregates all products and services in a niche and explains them to users. There will also be in category comparison of products.

My question is simple. What are the typical revenue generation models for sites of this type. At the moment, the products and services don't have referral/affiliate schemes so that is out. I also would not like to just think I can stick ads there and be done with it.

While I am willing to consider ads, I am curious as to what other schemes I can use.

For example. What if I offered a premium twice monthly digest of all the important events in the industry?

Any ideas? Cheers guys

You have to start with ads but you can also approach the companies that you review their product and close with them a referral deal. If it will make them money then it will worth their while to pay you.

My suggestion is to include some services with affiliate program and you will earn money when visitors buy those service through your affiliate links.

Thanks guys some interesting ideas.

I don't need to monetize this immediately. I would be happy to focus on the site and generate traffic for 12 months or so. Getting a decent amount of traffic would be cool and if that happens, I guess the money will follow.

Is it reasonable to say that any website with high volumes of traffic makes money if that is the goal of the owner?
