Monetizing a (mostly) White Hat SFW Subreddit?

So, in tandem to my other ideas about monetizing Reddit with NSFW I have also been thinking about growing a subreddit in a health&fitness niche. And because I already have a decent-ish site (quality content IMO; low traffic) on that niche, I was thinking of using a subreddit to promote it.

Now, I'd greatly prefer if this was as White Hat as possible. I would want Reddit to serve as a way to add value and legit brand recognition to the website, so I could get into high-ticket items.

So I've been looking into the bigger subreddits.

Enter r/Fitness. 11 million subscribers. Enormous. Huge. Humoungous.

This subreddit is so complete and tidy, it even features a small wiki on a seperate website. Cute.

So, hum, where is the money coming from....?

I've scoured throught that website, and I didn't find one single affiliate link. Unless they're very well hidden, and I'm so sleep deprived I didn't notice them, I don't see how they're monetizing it. And even if they're somewhat hidden or discrete, shouldn't the average user notice them, so he/she could, huh, click on them?

What's more, there are not pinned posts (at the time of writing -- and all throughout this week) and there's not anymore links in the sidebars....

Is anyone more experienced with Reddit than I am willing to clarify how these "Mr Very Serious" redditor admins are monetizing their efforts. I don't believe these 11 million subscribers are just sitting here iddling by. Someone MUST be banking at their expense, even if they do not realize it.

If Mods are sneaking posts into the feed with other accounts, and letting those same posts have an "advantage" in order to promote stuff, then monetizing Reddit isn't as straightforward or as simple as leaving a link in the About section, as the 30 min of Work -- 10x Result Method seemed to imply....

All in all, and to conclude, I'd just like to know how these very formal and presentable White Hat subreddits are monetizing themselves...

Some of the big SFW subs monetize by having secondary accounts posting their money links (either blogs full of ads, affiliate links etc). They then only allow their links there and bans any other poster that shares affiliate links. They can't add the links directly to the sub as they are closely watched by reddit admins.

Who says they are? Not everyone is making money with their subs.

Anyway, Reddit is a place with people, so anyone you can do to make money with people online, you can do it on Reddit, assuming what you're selling or promoting is strongly related to your subreddit. There really is no secret to it. You can promote pretty much anything. If you have a website you can promote it there. Create posts and link to your site. Use secondary accounts.
