Monetizing a high-traffic domain

I own a domain that gets extremely high traffic - up to 80K a day with Google's help or 30-40K a day when it's just parked. Half of the traffic comes from type-ins and existing hard links. The traffic is legit and completely unique, but the domain does not get a Google ad feed with parking providers, so the RPM is extremely low. My highest payout so far has been with a parking provider that sends all visitors to sponsors via zero click, but they pay fractions of a penny per visitor. Most of the traffic is from an Asian country (not China) that would normally get about 9-14 cents per click on AdSense sites. About 5%-10% of the traffic is from other countries, including Western countries.

I need to develop a long-term plan to monetize all this traffic. Would love to hear ideas.

No, not warez or adult. 100% legit, clean traffic. The hard links are embedded in thousands of sites and will stay there long after direct type-in and Google traffic is gone.

Why not put a site on your domain and use Google adsense or affiliate marketing, such as Amazon? With a CTR of just 1% you can make some decent bucks with adsense.

It's challenging to start a site that will appeal to a high percentage of visitors that come through the domain. I lot of them are just clicking on dead links for articles or old forum discussions. I tried starting a new forum and was only able to reach 0.7% CTR for AdSense. Given that the CPC for this country is not the greatest, this barely added up to $80 a day. I know that's great income for one domain, but so much more can be done with traffic like that.

Amazon is out of the question, because this is not a wealthy country, but the audience is definitely more lucrative than say India or China.

It's a tough one to answer without knowing more info, but you don't want to give too much away . I would suggest using redirects and split testing this traffic with many different methods. There are scripts out there which can redirect traffic based on their origin, which may help if you can divide your traffic into different categories for their motivation of surfing the web.
