monetize internet cafe

I'm UK based too . First and most important thing is to know what kind of customers you have. Do you have immigrants? Do you have workers? Depending on this you can start catering specifically for those groups.

I read you dont have resources to set up a calling center, but you can still something in between.
For example, if you have customers that are immigrants from Poland, you can sell calling cards with good rates for Poland. And on the drinks/snacks you can have Polish brands of snacks...... (It's quite easy to get these kind of merchandise in the UK).
Your computers are going to give you 1pound and hour, you just need to look into getting some other form of business around that. It can be food and drinks, calling cards, photocopies, tobacco (Im not sure about licences) .......

Just my 2 pence

Rather than set up a call center, an alternative idea might be selling handphones, handphones cards/numbers, accessories and even ringtones services, hand phones will be in demand and are changed regularly by buyers, so it is a profitable market currently.

If you want go the gaming route of ps3/xbox360, you basically have to invest in original games as well, so you can't have pirated stuff in the systems, unless u want to take a risk which is possible, some of the copied stuff look the same as the original. You'll also need to charge a high fee, definitely not 1 pound per hour to make it worth the space and investment.

you can also keep printer and scanner and charge people for that service. A lot of cafe's keep blank cds, dvds and pen drive on display. calling cards is a good idea.
you can offer membership to people at some discounted price. this will make sure that you get regular customers. you can also start giving free basic internet course's to bring customers. just teach them how to use email, browse internet and chat online.
I would really recommend you to go for setting up gaming facility if you can afford it right now.

Make up some package ... eq. 2$ for 3 hours...

I think maybe changing from an Internet Cafe to a Cafe with Internet may help

Use premium coffee and espresso, lavazaa, illy, invest in a espresso machine if you do not already have one. I know they are expensive (A good one can cost between 3k for a smaller one to 15k for a huge, color customized unit), but they knock out $4 drinks in 2min max (with a profit margin around 85%) Please do not buy a cheap machine, used is ok, but get a quality unit. Smoothies, and italian soda (club soda with flavoring) also have pretty good markup.

PM me with any questions you may have about the coffee and espresso game, beans, machines, setups,... Thats what I used to do for a living, and plan to do sometime in the future.

Check out if people buy stuff from ebay from ur site and keep your affiliate cookies in ur browser.

hey i was friends with an MCP (Microsoft Certified Professional) that ran an Internet/Gaming Cafe, and he also worked at the power plant as there Nuclear Programmer. I know the ins and outs on how to do a Internet Cafe but im not familiar with UK so you would have to explain what kind of area your at and what kind of people are there. So just PM me and we will talk. Ill do it for free

setup keylogger on all the computers to extract their passwords :P im sure you dont need me to tell you how you can make money off that. haha

or you can setup a server portal on the network so every few mins users will get redirected to an AD page. you can sell these ad pages to local businesses. (you can use cpa ads but its a bit dodge as all your traffic will come from one ip)
- this can be done to wifis too.

have lan parties, get groups of kids and order them pizza+coke for the night.. charge them a fee per person for the night and go wild with it..

Thought of this while reading the above...
If your computers are running Firefox then you could use Greasemonkey to render some ads in a floating DIV that only displays on popular sites like Myspace, Facebook etc.
Not as intrusive, less people get pissed off/walk out, most will think it's a natural part of the site

Alternatively you could charge teens in the area for a simple VPN/Tunnelling service (using the inactive PCs) so they can get round school filters :p (Not sure about legality but it'd be immensely popular)

they might as well use free proxy sites for it. unless they need it for some "illegal" reasons

True but the VPN/Tunnelling route is generally faster and ad free
I know plenty who use it at University and it's gone undetected so there's another cool marketing point.

Of course it all depends on the school, filtering system (Most people can beat websense just by using Firefox Portable) and general competency of the admins.

Leave littel ewhore notes on them directing to your CPA zip offer

Code up your own 'toolbar/plugin' that will force ads on certain pages eg. 404.
Also what was mentioned above, replacing current ad spots with your own.

Why not do a making money seminars put an ad in the newspaper local online forums etc they come there use your computers and you teach them to make money seo blogging etc etc etc etc etc etc.

Theres a great coarse on here called LocalBusinessMoneyMachine gives alot of good ideas mainly about going after businesses.

This could potentially make you alot if done right!

dude, get a land line and buy a fax machine and send out faxes for $2 locally for a page, $3 nationally and/or $5 a page internationally... you can make a killing.. .
