Monetize an onion with 100k+ views / monthly

Hello everyone,

I have a hidden service on TOR (an onion site) that is approaching over 100k views per month.

Currently I am using a tor advertising network which pay on clicks and views. However, it runs out of ads frequently and a lot of traffic never sees an advertisement. Trying to find another ad network or an affiliate program that would have no problems being used on a hidden service. Any other recommendations are appreciated.

Sorry for my ignorance, but what exactly is an onion site? :confused:
 
depending on the nature of your site, i guess offers from more lenient CPA networks could work too, not sure about the how to though, maybe it cannot be done at all
or you can try selling ad space to other onion sites making a deal with other onion site owners
 
I really don't think CPA will work at all. Think about it: who will give you their real information or download something suspicious over TOR. Best scenario they will fill out fake info and you will have issues with your affiliate manager. All PPC networks ban TOR traffic. You might need to get creative here. You have a very specific niche of people (no matter what the site is about) that are all tech savvy and interested in privacy and security. They use VPNs, bitcoins, they like anonymous services in general (email, hosting, proxies, trace cleaners etc... ), so you have a very targeted traffic here. Sell a related product for bitcoins or JV with somebody who is already doing this. Approach the major VPN services and see if they can accept affiliate traffic over TOR....

No problem, the hidden service is simply a confessions site where people confess secrets and the secrets can be commented on. The secrets range from political rants to confessions on illegal acts.

Great advice! I didn't think about the type of people are using TOR and Bitcoin but rather the contents of the site.
 
I have contacted a couple of VPN affiliate programs. I hope they will accept and can track my TOR traffic.
 
Affiliating with vpn affiliate programs is an excellent idea. Selling security/technology niche (proxies, vps, software) should perform better than tor advertising network.
 
Clever niche actually. Online confessionals. After a while you get to thinking "what can't make money online?"
