Something strange happened today and I want to share this experience with you so that you could be cautious or relate to this topic.

I've been uploading videos, editing and basically creating original content about movies (thats my niche) for couple of years already. Of course the content originally belonged to the studios but with my editing I was able to bypass the Content ID system and have my video on the platform for some time.

Today after opening my Studio I could see that my monetization was suspended because of Reused content . I didn't receive an email or anything like that (Usually I receive a mail about copyrights/monetization) and I was confused for a moment.

How is it possible that YouTube disables my monetization based on Reused content? If there's anything they should be disabling it for it should probably be based on Copyright.

Any similar experiences ? How did it go for you?

Well you’ve been breaking the copyright law anyway, so you would’ve been demonetized someday. What’s the difference?

The difference is that it'd be right to demonetize me for copyright law , unlike this one

it'd be right

This is where you're going wrong. YouTube is judge, jury and executioner here. If you want to play in their sandbox - they make the rules.

If they're still giving you traffic try driving traffic to a relevant CPA offer or something. Adsense was never going to last.

If someone else’s content is used, whatever it may be, there will always be a chance of all kinds of restrictions. The system is constantly updated and learns to recognize the video, soon it will be impossible at all and paw seconds to insert the video if the owner has forbidden to do this

Consider yourself lucky you got flagged for reused content. if you were flagged for copyright violations your account would have been terminated. I believe you can reapply for monetization after 30 days.

This is Google's policy for reused content.

"Reused content. This is content that doesn’t provide significant original commentary, or educational value. It may also mean that we’ve identified that large portions of your channel either completely match other content, or are noticeably similar."

I believe a review of your account also includes any videos that are unlisted or private too.

I do what I know the best , making money from Youtube through Adsense is one of them. I don't know much about CPA so right now I'm not doing it.

It wasn't a review process , I got approved and 2 weeks later this happens. I do know what Is Reused Content , from my experience and knowledge it's content which is distributed/uploaded on Youtube by other users, but my content (movies) how can this fit into the category of Reused Content

What u mean by movies??? if u are using movies that u have filmed aka copied the movie and put it on youtube of course it's going to be copyrighted.

It didn't get copyrighted

Reused copntent in most cases is NOT referring to using someone else's video. its actually based on the fact that you have used that video or clip on another 'video' on YOUR channel. I think a lot of people get this confused. If youtube was disabling peoples monetisation for reused content based on what other people have posted, then a lot more youtubers will be demonetised because you can see the same video on more than hundreds of channels at the same time if its a trending topic.

Its a copyright issue if you are using someone elses content without permission, its not classified as 'reused'.

The 'Reused ' is probably pointing to your own channel in most cases. if you have a similar video with same clips etc maybe check that.

YouTube has updated their policies a while ago, which said even if the original content owner is ok with you posting their content. YouTube still may demonetize your channel for reused content because editing a couple clips in doesn't really provide unique value to it. That's why most of the channels that used to download the videos from creative common died even before they took off. The whole notion of reused content is not the copyright issues but the uniqueness of it.

The prime example of adding value to the content would be voice over.

This happens after reporting of your channel, get in touch with then on email and get clear!

Do you have any commentary/narration in your videos?

This is from YT help center articles where they
clearly describes what is reused content:

Reused content

Reused content refers to channels that repurpose someone else's content without adding significant original commentary or educational value. This policy is taken from the AdSense Search Console portion of AdSense program policies. We’ve put it in a context that’s more relevant for YouTube creators.

This policy applies to your channel as a whole. In other words, if you have many videos that violate our guidelines, monetization may be removed from your entire channel.

And this is what you can do about it:

Add commentary to the video or show your presence in your videos (voice or on screen)

Link back to your YouTube channel from your website

Provide more context about your work in your video and channel descriptions

Make sure the content on your channel aligns with YouTube's policies. You can review: Community Guidelines, AdSense Policies, and YouTube Partner Program policies.

You should also keep in mind that when you are using third party content in your videos, obtaining written permission or license from the rights holder prior of using the content and making sure that your production can be considered as fair use.

If your channel was YPP (YouTube Partner Program) suspended due to reuse of content, you can reapply to join YPP 30 days after suspension. Just make sure that you have removed all duplicate content in your channel before you re-apply so that you may be eligible.

You're lucky. Before YT charge you with copyrighted, I think you should delete all copyrighted videos. You can sell your channel, or make original content. Good luck.

this happens alot they dont have to give notifications, also keep in mind with corona virus and less staff theyre using more automation atm which makes more mstakes
