ModX

What are your thoughts about ModX? What has been your experience?

Great CMS. Good for SEO, very customizable and fast.

It's a good CMS, but i still prefer Wordpress as you can do what you want with this platform. But bot are good for SEO.

You can do even more with modx if you know how or just read manual. WP is for those who just want to install it then install a couple of plugins and site is up. Ofcourse ModX take more time but if you making good site - it's worth it. For ModX you can use ANY html template - just insert a couple of special tags and that's all. And I'm not even talking about the fact that ModX is 2-3x faster than WP!
But if you want just blog/autoblog/splog and so on - WP is your choise ofcourse.

id rather code my own site in rails, or do wp for simpler stuff

CMS is the best option.

well always build a site with a joomla expert.
