@mods - rule clarification

I make a chunk of my living creating reviews and tutorials for products and maintain a blog for this, I was going to start including some of these tutorials here and start fleshing them out with addtional methods and information unique to BHW. After reviewing the rules I believe it would not be a violation for me to include a link back to my blog, however since my blog does contain affiliate links I wanted to make sure it isn't a violation.

The posted tutorials etc on BHW would not contain any such links of course, and the pages on my blog would not redirect, just merely have affiliate links else where on the site. From my understanding of the rules it should be fine, I just wanted to take a moment to clarify.

it depends a lot on whether the content of the post is valuable on its own. you can't make threads solely for self-promotion or just to redirect people to your blog. but since you're a donor, you can just link to your blog in your signature.


usually stuff like this will fall into a gray zone. ask yourself whether your post will appear spammy to other users. if it does, then someone will probably end up reporting it, and then mods will have to look into it, and then you may or may not receive an infraction.

Of course, I wouldn't move anything over, only things that were more detailed tutorials or the like, not looking to blatantly self promote

Generally speaking we don't check offsite links, what you do there is your business (within reason - content locked sites or malicious downloads will get you banned here).

Donors are allowed signature links as well as more leeway in what they post, but we tend to frown on people using BHW solely as a traffic funnel. Most reported posts are actioned within thirty minutes so you will get shut down pretty quick if someone flags you. Make sure you are posting valuable content and not pre-selling and you should be fine.
