Hi guys.
I have recently signed up a new customer.
His on Page seo isn't that bad to be honest but I need to modify the Urls to keyword relevant ones.
However, I don't want the rankings to drop too much afterwards.

What's the best way to go about doing this? Using a 301 redirect?

Any other ways?

Cheers

Do you mean like yourdomain.com/badkeyword.html? I mean are the page urls bad and you don't want to lose your pages rank?

Sorry if my question is not clear. Just trying to figure out if they have a bad keyword domain or bad keyword named pages. A domain 301 for a bad keyword domain to a good one is easy and you will not lose backlinks or juice to your new domain and pages. But if the page names are bad that's a different story.

Do the 301 redirect and make sure to build new quality backlinks to all those new pages. Rankings wont be much affected. If you are in control to those old backlinks then point them to new if it's possible.

You can definitely use a 301 redirect that would pass the link juice from the previous backlinks as well.

But what platform does the site run on? Is that a wordpress site?

Cheers for the replies.
No it's an open cart site.

After reading around a bit everyone says that a 301 is the best bet and just build a few links to them
