(One more thing for
@Apricot : What happens if someone applies for a modposition and they haven't heard from you or have been denied? If they haven't heard from you, will you keep their application for future mod recruitments or will you just discard them?)
Hey there - no, we absolutely don't discard them. The applications are kept and when we call for mods, we look through all the previous applications that we've received in addition to any new ones.
Right now, we've got 4 outstanding MiT's so we're not taking any more on right now. However, we always need new mods as they all have their own work and generally are very successful in that, so there's times where they can't be as active on the forum, or need to concentrate on their real- life projects. So we'll let people know we're looking periodically.
If it's something anyone's interested in - this might help:
When we consider a potential moderator, the biggest factor we take into account is how helpful they are on the forum as a regular member. We need to know that any potential MiT understands how the forum works and is interested in keeping it clear and supporting other members.
Once we receive anyone's application we will keep an eye on their forum activity and what they contribute to BHW. In particular, we'll look at conduct towards other members and understanding of the community dynamics, in addition to being active and a regular presence on the forum.
Most importantly, it's good to make regular and detailed reports. When submitting a report, instead of making a quick comment like "against the rules" explain to us what rule is being broken - either quote it or include a link to the relevant section. Also include info on why the post breaks this rule. Finally, we look for people who provide advice and support to other members on the forum - including helping newbies out and answering questions where you see them.
