Mobile games?

Hello. I want to ask something about publishing games on Android or iOS.

How long does it take to make profit off of mobile game development? I mean self publishing. Is it a risky business, or worth investing time and money?

it's not profitable anymore unless you invest huge

You need to have a lot of investment, mobile traffic isn't cheap

If you have a very good game then investment is very less. But if you are going for reskinning then investment will increase accordingly.

How much investment (roughly) do I need to make some profit?
And how long may it take to compensate my expenses?
Considering my games are not unique, either reskinned or an ordinary casual game.

Its extremely difficult if you dont have an audience or a large marketing budget and it will take a lot of time to actually generate a livable income

hundreds of hours in development , marketing and maintaining .

is a gamble, like flip a coin, if the game is good will get discover and downloaded a lot, the best example I can give you is flappy bird famous for a couple of months tons of copy cats now the game dissapear, amongus no one even knew that game at the begining and now still really famous and that game spent more than 4 or 5 years in the shadows until someone found it, if you will do marketing try to invest the minimun and in the correct places so you can get the maximun of your investment not just droping 5K in ads and wating for the best, if you decide to continue wish you the best and success!
