Are the popuar MNS builders still using EMDs or not? I like MNS but I thought G was hunting EMDs now? Are they still easy to rank?

EMDs are fine assuming they don't get hit by all of the other stuff Google is on the lookout for, but they lost a lot of their purpose (free SEO basically).

I'd use EMD where you think the users themselves would respond well to it or to grab the "defining" domain name for a niche. I wouldn't use EMD just for the sake of being EMD. For example:

autoparts.com = good
best-cheap-auto-parts-store.net = not so good

A lot of my EMD's took a hit after the EMD update. I don't do anything with them except check rankings every 6 months or so, most dropped.

Yes EMDs is still the way to go. Not as much advantage as before but still the best way to go when targeting a specific keyword.

Not much value in using EMD's anymore.

The important thing is to avoid giving the MNS an appearance of being a 'thin' keyword site, which is really what Google went after in the update. Many EMDs are MNSs built on 1-2 keywords, which G now reads as spam regardless of how much new content, good backlinks and such are on it. That's why it looked like Google went after EMDs, when the real target was 1-2 keyword based sites. So, build your EMD MNS on 6-7 or more kws instead.

Thanks guys, so who on BHW is a good post penguin MNS builder and ranker?
