Hi guys, I have a small problem (actually kind of bigger lol). I have built quite a few micro niche websites in the past using exact match domain names and ALWAYS it was a matter of weeks for keyword to start jumping within top 10 pages of Google, from there being easy peasy to reach page 1.

End of November I've decided to invest again in MNS so I have bought some EMDs, ordered 5 articles+ for each website (for one 10+) and added a few links here and there - NOTHING automated etc. After almost 2 months, the websites are nowhere to be seen in top 50 pages of Google, not even for their domain name. One of the websites ranked for a keyword on page 48 BUT with a tag page, which I find odd...

Now, in the same time I have created another website (EMD as well) with only 3 articles - it is already on page 2 for most keywords, so obviously something is wrong with the other websites. I assumed the keywords are a bit more competitive for websites that do not rank but come on, one example below (again, I own the EMD.net):
x product reviews - 88,200 results - that is CRAP; still, nowhere in top 50 pages!

I thought the website is over-optimized so I removed some keywords etc, nothing happens. Feel like giving up, there is something that I cannot see ONPAGE 100%, I would really appreciate any help guys!

Mate checked that but again, one site which is far away from being an authority, ranks like a boss, the others are in hell...that is what bothers me...

Well, Google doesn't like EMDs. You'd be better off using brand-like domains.

Depends a lot on what Google determines as EMD and how to act on it. Say you had a site "greenwidgets.com" and a site "fuzzywidgets.com", Google might see green widgets as an EMD while they see fuzzy widgets as a brand. If I had to guess I'd say modifiers and "reviews" specifically will probably get this treatment. Also, phpbuilt goes well into detail on how you should stuff (or not stuff) your keywords. His advice to me was an emd or pmd should be well under what he recommends there. If you don't see your site in the serps at all, it's time to start removing keywords from your content, titles, links and really everything you can. Do it one by one, and you might come up with a proper keyword density.

EMD's still rank better because you've got your targeted keyword WITHIN THE URL!!!

but anchor over optimization is a bad thing nowadays so do the math...
EMD's will rank faster & better if you're anchors are long tails/branding/non related.
Since you're going for EMD MNS http://www.emd.com will be considered a branding anchor while still sending a lot of power to your keyword.
Add some more content (3-4 articles) with low density for that keyword and then do a PR link for your domain.
After the PR link gets approved add a high density article onto your EMD and just leave it there.

Imxftw is right..... An EMD is fine as long as you add good content, an EMD + exact match keyword anchors = bad news! If you have an emd then just build generic and Lsi anchors

It makes a lot of sense but I did not even reach to building too many links, I have ~20 or so brand/naked anchors so the offpage is clearly not an issue I reckon.
    Thanks for your advices though!

Do you think I should 301 to a more brandable domain name maybe?

    a press release link.
there are tons of press release sites that you can submit to but they only accept raw links (non anchored) so in his case it makes sense because the domain is his desired anchor.

the good PR sites usually go through your content and want to see how commercial it is. adding some new content with a low keyword density will assure the approval. once he gets the link he can just add keyword rich content that gets boosted by the PR link. It's called ranking through content :)

I am one who loves EMD's and used them in past to generate good amount of money. But now days game has been changed. It doesnt matter whether you have EMD or not, what matters is quality content and quality backlinks with DIVERSIFIED ANCHORS.

EMD + EM Title + EM Backlink Anchors = DEATH !!!

So diverify your backinks and anchor text.

Does the EMD include brand names?

Please take your rumored nonsense somewhere else.

Google does NOT dislike EMD. Period.
Think about the quality of the articles you purchase.
The OP said nothing about keyword research.
    Think about your SEO strategy.
Think about a LOT of factors, before spreading misinformation around BHW, like this.

    Thank you.
