    Hi there.

Me and my friend want to start a business, however small, because we realized ideas lead you nowhere without action, and the best way to learn is by actually doing it. I occasionally look through this forum for new ways of making money, and naturally, I picked up one or two things about how to monetize a website/social media sort of thing.

We are both fans of MMA, we both train or used to train, so we actually know something about the sport and the international community. We realized that there isn't a well-defined community in Romania, and since MMA is one of the fastest growing sports in the world, we saw it as a window.

The plan isn't so well-defined, and we are bouncing ideas back and forth, but we don't actually know what would be the best way of getting the most profits, because that's the end result after all. Right now, we were thinking of building an audience first, creating a facebook and an instagram and building a following on those platforms. We were thinking of not selling anything for 1-2 months, in order to build trust. During this time, we would be working on our website, which will be a news-blog-sort-of-website, with a store. The store will be selling MMA equipment, outsourced from an online store, from which we will be getting a percentage of every sale. It would also include t-shirts, cups, and that sort of stuff with quotes from fighters, cool designs, famous MMA scenes/fighters, etc.

We know nothing about facebook and instagram advertising- planning to learn all of that on this forum.
We know nothing about site building- planning to learn that on this forum.

The point of this post is to ask more experienced people - you -, if you have any ideas for my plan, or any advice you could give me, or any post on this forum you could send me to. Again, we are completely new to internet marketing, and any advice that you might think is obvious, could be gold for us. Also, if you think it's a good idea, you have some expertise in what we are trying to accomplish, and you want to work with us on it, you are more than welcome (of course, with a share of the profits).

Thank you so much for your time, happy new year everyone!!!!!

Building a community - great idea. Build slow and steady get a small following of really targeted and interested users will be great.

Do some research, find all your competitors and see what they are doing, find the best keywords so you can start a siteand write about stuff people are searching for and also find all the products you can sell and promote so that you have way to monetise.

That will be a good start.

OK, so it has a fan base. What content/info/value would you provide that audience? Answer that well enough and you have the beginnings of a plan.

Thank you for the encouragement! It is motivating to see that other people think the idea has potential.
Thank you for your advice. We are currently just copying posts of the most popular MMA Communities / news companies, because it's just easier: the posts are well-thought by other people, and it means little to no effort on our side.
Any specific ideas on how we can build the facebook and instagram following faster? There are lots of posts about it on this forum, but we are looking for advice that would work best with what we're trying to do. Thank you for your time, again! You have no idea how much your feedback helps and motivates us.
    Thank you for your time!
We thought about this, and decided we should just copy what the biggest companies in our niche are doing. Saves time, saves effort and we can see how the audience responds to their posts, choosing the ones with best engagement. What do you think about that? Thank you again!

Are you rewriting this content or just reposting it?

You really want unique content and ideally you want to try and add some value as well.

For social, again you want to add some value but maybe tweet some industry news coupled with some of your own insights, comments on big fights and so on.

Follow people with interests in mma, manually of with something like massplanner or manageflitter.
Mention big names in mma in the hope of getting some shoutouts / retweets / likes from big accounts.
