I remember reading somewhere that when doing blackhat, one shouldn't open a Google Analyctics account, can anybody confirm this?

Thanks

any alterntivies to analytics? thats free?
and how does google take it if you try and stop using them?

I've never thought about this but thanks OP :D

I just setup everything a week ago! :(

I'm starting out with social bookmarking, feedburner feeds and then some blasts (to my social bookmarks, feeds and also "bit.ly'd" links of both)

Should I be taking analytics off?
How long does it take before taking analytics off for it to stop monitoring?

Is this a myth or real or a saftey precaution? (I assume precaution)

If adsense code is on your website, there is already some monitoring is going on. ;)

What kind of bh should not use GA?

Everything. I only use GA when working for clients, because it's a good way to show progress.

But I very rarely use it on my own sites. G. knows already to much :D

I was thinking the same thing, adsense code (google), analytics code (google), does it really matter or ever so slightly?

Depends how aggressively black hat you are to be honest.
If you define blackhat as smart marketing and attempting to understand how the algorithm functions and capitalise on it, you should be alright.
If you think blackhat means buying some programs and spamming the hell out of the internet to link directly back to your site... then it's probably not a good idea is it? :D

So what other good alternatives are there? chartbeat.com/?

never ever using google unless you have high quality website - > me doing this.:)

i am sorry guys, i have to step in here.

So why would it be more of a risk if we have analytics on a site doing BH i.e scrapebox or xrumer blasting over a site that doesnt have analytics installed and it is doing the same?

Considering all these events are outside of your website itself with exception of incoming links - but hey - guess what. You dont need Google analytics to show the amount of links to your site.

I am sorry guys, but this is only if your doing any cloaking or crap with adsense etc. For your basic BH stuff, dont be fooled to running scared.

Too many people in this forum will read something without investigating further or trying it themselves and just end up like another flock of sheep.

Truth :D

If you are looking for an alternative to GA I like Piwik.

It's a good stable open source scalable platform.

I don't know if it really makes a difference or not.

I do sleep better at night with my own analytics program if for no other reason than I don't want someone else controlling my data.

Is it safe with google?

It's probably safer than on my own hard drive.

Am I paranoid like that? YES!! :D

Just been looking at this to. How easy is it to setup? Do you just upload and surf to it' index pagetype thing?

Is it almost a good and GA would you say?

Thanks for any opinions :)

google already knows where is your site linked from. analytics just tracks your visitors. i dont see how it is a threat.. unless you are talking about buying crap traffic. but then again adsense code is enough for google to detect it. i use GA on all my sites.
